MUSICAL PROGRAMME
  First Round

The Competitor will perform a programme of a duration not more than 45 minutes, which must include:

 

1. Paganini: Any two Caprices from the 24 Caprices for solo violin op. 1

2. Britten: Reveille

3. First movement of any concerto by Haydn or Mozart with piano accompaniment. Any cadenzas should be composed by the Competitor.

 

 

Second Round - first day

The Competitor will perform a programme of not more than 30 minutes duration, as follows:

 

1. Bach: One of the following:

Adagio and Fugue from Sonata in G Minor BWV1001

OR Grave and Fugue from Sonata in A Minor BWV1003

OR Adagio and Fugue from Sonata in C Major BWV1005

 

2. Britten: March and Lullaby OR Lullaby and Waltz from the Suite op. 6

OR

Stankovych Poem - obligatory piece sent to the competitor two months before the Competition

 

3. A virtuoso piece

 

 

Second Round - second day

The Competitor will perform a programme of not more than 30 minutes duration, as follows:



1. Any complete (duo) sonata for violin and piano written not earlier than 1798 and not later than 1915

 

2. Stankovych Poem - obligatory piece sent to the competitor two months before the Competition

OR

Britten: March and Lullaby OR Lullaby and Waltz from the Suite No. 6 (whichever was not performed on the first day of the Second Round)

 

 

Final Round

The Competitor will perform one of the following concertos with orchestra:

 

Britten: Concerto op. 15 (revised version)

Elgar: Concerto in B Minor op. 61

Walton: Concerto in B Minor
