Since his debut at the Wigmore Hall, Nigel Hutchison has become
a frequent performer both in the UK and abroad. After graduating
in music from the University of Glasgow, he studied with Craig
Sheppard at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. A Fulbright
Scholarship subsequently enabled him to work with Earl Wild at
the Juilliard School.
He has given notable performances in all the major UK concert
halls both as a soloist and a chamber musician. Orchestras he
has appeared with include the Royal Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic,
the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and the London Mozart Players.
Nigel has also travelled widely, performing in the US, Europe,
Japan, China and the Middle East. He has broadcast several times
for the BBC and international radio, and appeared on Polish and
Chinese television. In Britain he performed on Meridian’s
Masterclass series with Yfrah Neaman. His recording with the London
Symphony Orchestra of The Carnival of the Animals was a critic’s
choice in Gramophone magazine.
Nigel was pianist and coach for Yfrah Neaman’s masterclasses
for 14 years, as well as assisting every summer at Y. Neaman’s
International Summer School in Hengrave Hall, Suffolk.
