Mr. Bae is currently a professor of Violin
and Chamber Music at the Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana
and has been faculty member at the Peabody Institute of Johns
Hopkins University, the Manhattan School of Music and the Korean
National Institutes for the Arts. Every year he gives master classes
worldwide.
He has been a jury member of
the Munich ARD competition in Germany and the Carl Nielson International
Violin Competition in Denmark.
Ik-Hwan Bae was born in Seoul,
Korea, and made his professional debut with the Seoul Philharmonic
at the age of 12. After studying with Ivan Galamian at the Juilliard
school, he has been very busy person ever since. His performances
in recitals and concerto concerts has taken him to most of the
major cities in Europe, Asia and United States.
He has been a prize winner of
the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels and the ARD Competition
in Munich.
As an enthusiastic participant
in many of the worlds best chamber music festivals, he has been
seen everywhere from Seoul to Alaska. And also served as an artistic
director of the Bargemusic Ltd., one of the leading presenters
of chamber music in New York City, for thirteen years, until 1995.
Mr. Bae has recorded for RCA,
ECM, Delos, and Koch labels.
